Eco-Trail Run & Tree-Planting at Bacnotan, La Union

I woke up with the view of the surfable waves at San Juan, La Union (Kahuna Beach Resort). The scene was so inviting for a quick morning run, but because I’m running late of our scheduled IT I wasn’t able to run. :(

Inviting waves from San Juan, La Union (view from Kahuna Beach Resort & Spa)

I was still determined to run, so I made another plan to run. This time not on the beach but on the trail of our next destination- Holcim Cement Plant in Bacnotan, La Union. :)

It was supposed to be a short trek through the Holcim Eco-trail that the company developed so that their employees can do some walking and later on open to public for some bonding in the forest.

The route was a short 1.2K (including the cemented road during the loop).

I didn’t put on my running attire to run just a kilometer. So while my tour group (Lakbay Norte 3) started to walk through the woods, I run the trails. I run the eco-trail path thrice making a total mileage of 3.6K. Just a quick run to burn all those food bingeing we are doing the entire trip.

I ended my run by planting 5 trees in the designated tree-planting area of Holcim Bacnotan.

What a perfect thing to do after a quick run… Do something good for nature

How I wish all mining companies are like that- very responsible and sustainable in their efforts to conserve our environment. Kudos Holcim Philippines.

Thank you also to Lakbay Norte 3 for putting this on our itinerary.

Hi Journeying James! Actually, I am also adopting this idea to incorporate tree-planting with running and hiking. I’m investigating a number of areas to conduct my own. Hope that we can make a movement this year.
