July 28th, 2011 No comments

So I will be running at BGC again, yes… I actually miss the roads of Bonifacio High Street and the thought of meeting friends after the race gets me amped and super excited.

And so I want to than RUNRIO, NBA FIT and AIR21 for making this one possible.

I’m excited to shake the hands of Coach Erik Spoelstra. Yes, the Head Coach of Miami Heat, which I’m a fan! Yes, he will be there and I will try to run with him, the reason why I chose to run the 10K distance. How I wish I can keep up with his pace as I don’t have regular runs lately. Let’s see.

Wanna be a Super Hero? Run and Help Save the Planet!

July 28th, 2011 2 comments

Are you ready for another Earth Run?!! To tell you honestly, I haven’t participated yet on the past Earth Run’s. Reason? Either the registration fee is way too much or I was out-of-town. But that doesn’t mean I don’t support the advocacy.

How much more if the Registration Fee is cheaper this time and it seems like I still don’t have a booking on the 28th of August. So I guess this is a good run, not to mention the advocacy which I 101% support!

CAMP RUN- Train/Race/Serve at Camp Aguinaldo

July 26th, 2011 No comments

Looking for a different race venue within the Metro? How about an afternoon run? Them this is for you! Introducing CAMP RUN- Train/Race/Serve.

What is CAMP RUN?

The Camp Run Series is composed of several running events happening throughout the year at Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. The series will feature a military or boot camp theme, a unique race format, and a novel route for the runners. It will also be tailored to encourage continuous participation rather than competitiveness, and will ultimately be developed to become a nationwide program or template.

The races will have 5 kilometers and 10 kilometers distances. Participants can expect race grounds that are not only secure, but smog and smoke-free as the events will be held inside Camp Aguinaldo which has less traffic movement than the regular thoroughfares and roads of usual running routes. Aside from needed facilities such as ample water stations and accurate kilometer and directional markings, the Camp Run events will also provide free training clinics and a designated family and finishers’ activity area.

In order to encourage participants to attend all events of the Camp Run Series, eXtribe also created the “VeteRan” system. This system will recognize runners who went to all of the races under the Camp Run series, and they will receive a special race bib, event shirt, and a commemorative dog tag and medal. Runners can also use the series as preparatory training for the Subic International Marathon, which will be held early 2012.

CAMP RUN’s Beneficiaries

The various partner foundations that will benefit from the Camp Run Series are the following: Adopt-A-School Program of DepEd, E-media Project of ABS-CBN Foundation, HERO Foundation Inc., and 57-75 Movement: Reverse the Education Crisis (a beneficiary of the iamninoy-iamcory runners). In partnership with Discovery Suites, Businessworld, Total Fitness Magazine, Pinoy Fitness, OneSport, DOLE, Nova Multigrain Cookies, Aero Med, Nathan, ROX and Chris Sports. eXtribe’s campaign will not just be anchored on a single event, but will be sustained throughout the year with the lined up series of races. To know more about the event visit www.extribe.com.ph or call eXtribe office at (02) 438-9021 / (02) 439-3007.

Love, Courtship, Dating, and Marathon Running (Part 2 of 2)

July 19th, 2011 16 comments

 WARNING! CONTROVERSIAL POST!

Love & Marathon Running Part 1 was an instant hit! Thanks for all those who shared what they think about it. Honestly speaking, I wrote that for one person…

Anyway, here the second part (I wrote this to another person).

Let’s look into how courtship and dating happens right now, courtship happens through SMS/Facebook (and for Phil Younghusband, Twitter, sorry for the example), I can’t say it’s bad but I think it’s too impersonal. I mean, how can relationship grow via a FB message (even saw some of my highschool students flood walls of sweet messages)?

ASKING LOUDLY…. How does a “mwah” feel through BBM? Do you really think you eat lunch together through Skype? Sending each other Twitpic 30times a day is thoughtful but it doesn’t develop a “real” and “lasting” relationship. I think girls need “real” ears to listen (and sometimes bite), shoulders to cry on, body to hug and hands to hold. Or for runners, a “buddy” or “personal pacer” to run with.

Phil Younghusband tweets:

“@143redangel Hi Angel! This Phil. How are you? I was just wondering if you are free for Valentines day?”

Angel Locsin replied:

“hi! this is angel☺ Congrats on your win last night! Tnx for the invite but I have work on valentines.. Let’s try another day☺”

I can’t imagine someone running virtually, doing some fartleks online. How about some 50-meter laps via Firefox as part of your cross-training? Oh and imagine you drinking a virtual cheery-flavored-Gatorade. Funny ayt?

When you run, you run on the road (treadmill for some), never online. Same is true with courtship and dating right? Have you ever dated someone online? Maybe some couples meet online, but they do EB after some time. In running, the rubber shoes must meet the road. In courtship, the boy’s hand must meet the girl’s to know if there is “magic” or a tingling effect. Or for the “more mature,” its with the first kiss of the night. Okay, don’t get me started…

When I’m running, I want to feel the road, the fresh air, the trees around me, the thought of me being able to run. When I’m in love, I want to see her, to talk to her face-to-face, look into her eyes and feel her heartbeat. That’s it!

You want a part 3?
