Rave Run #3: Baywatch Run at Roxas City (Part 3 of 4)
Check out Rave Run #1: Mambukal Resort and Rave Run #2: “Sweet” Run in La Carlota City before continuing…
My DailyMile log says, “I met a fellow runner, Reynold. We run the first 2.5k on Boulevard road, then the remaining was done on sand. It was a nice run.”
I started out at Km.0 of Roxas City, there I saw Reynold about to run towards the Boulevard Road, so without doing stretching I hurriedly run with him. It was his cool down run as he already run hard earlier. He was so fast and I think we are running 5:15-5:20/km. I started talking to him so he can slow down. I learned that he was once a varsity in highschool. However, when he graduated he wasn’t able to continue training because there is no support in college. This is a sad fact in most areas where our athletes (with lots of potentials) are short-changed because of lack of budget. I hope the government would do something about this.
Anyway, I continued running after we part ways on Km.2.5. I then run on Baybay (shore) and watch the small surfs kiss the dark sand of the city. I was able to visit the “tuyuan” too. You can check out the pictures below.
Date of Run: July 15, 2010 (Thursday)
Route: Roxas City Km.0-Boulevard and Baybay
Distance covered: 7 Kilometers
Running Surface: Flat cemented road on the first 2.5K and then runnable beach sand.

Note: This is the 3rd installment of the 4-part series of rave runs while I was on the road during my 14-Day Backpacking Trip to West Visayas.

Beautiful pics man. Yes, it is a sad fact that most athletes with so much potential are never heard of because of lack of funding and support. To be an elite, it is phenomenal the amount of support you need to get somewhere, anywhere. But running, you can just run, that’s the good thing about the sport.
