Haile Gebrselassie Not Yet Retired

The fastest marathoner, Haile Gebrselassie, changes mind after announcing that he is retiring from competitive racing after a disappointing race at the New York City Marathon.

Geb said the following,

Now it is time for me to think about a lot of things.I still love running. I will always run. Just give me some time to think things over

First I want to thank you for all your support and great responses. After a few days on the countryside I could take some decisions.

Running is in my blood and I decided to continue competing. My announcement in New York was my first reaction after a disappointing race.

When my knee is better again I will start focussing on my next race. Thank you again for all your support!

The shocking “retirement” was just a first reaction after dropping out of the race because of a leg injury on the recent NYC Marathon.

So, there will be a comeback race for the fastest marathoner. We will wait for that Haile. Great athletes don’t retire, they just RE-TIRE with better legs strength and sexier shoes. :)

I remember Michael Jordan announcing retirement after the death of his father and coming back better and stronger. Would this happen too with Haile? We will see.

P.S. He set the marathon world record at the Berlin Marathon with a time of 2:03:59. This blazing fast time is close to my Half-Marathon PR.

That is some awesome news man. Well, yeah, on the brighter side, it’s good to know that you can run half as fast, right? lol
